My condolences to Carolyne and to all of the Doane Family. I wish you all peace, comfort and healing thoughts. I first met John Doane in Hohenfels, Germany, and remember him as the most practical, humorous, and best boss I ever had while in the Army. He sorted out the squabbles between myself and my colleagues and made us work harder and better as a team. Many years later after the Army, John and Carolyne invited me to their Mansfield ranch to help “work the cattle” one season — while I imagined there would be horses and dogs involved in the round-up — it was just John, his “Preacher” friend, and myself, on foot! No dogs to be seen either. It was hard work but a time that I have not forgotten, and just one of many good memories for me. Rest in peace, Sir.
John, you were the best. No one treated me better. I always enjoyed our visits, and you stopping by my office just to say hello. I miss you already, my friend. Prayers for your family as they deal with your loss.
A picture of dad from Vietnam. Receiving a bronze star. A patriot who loved his country and family. He will be greatly missed.
Butch, you will be sorely missed by all. I really enjoyed the times we had with you all each Thanksgiving, till Mother could not go anymore. I am so glad that my sense of humor came from your side of the family!! That's all that has kept me going. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. We will see that Carolyne and Jackie are taken care of.
Love you loads

Thank you John and Carolyn for all the wonderful memories while I was stationed at Ft Leonardwood. You and your family welcomed me into your home and loved me. I truly felt loved by each one of your family. It is truly an honor to call you my friend, brother, , and confidant. I enjoyed our talks together. We’ll miss you. Wesley Guynes
My condolences to Carolyn and the family. I remember working with John when I was secretary/treasurer of the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce. John always had my back and was a good friend. He was always looking out for other veterans, as well.
So sadden by our dear friend’s passing. There are no words to appropriately express my sorrow. No fitting words to comfort the bereaving. A very wise man once said that “A good name is better than a good ointment; and the day of one’s death is better than the day of one’s birth.” (Eccl. 7:1) John had a “good” name because he did many good things for his family, his community, and his country. He will be sorely missed.
