John Doane (Mansfield)'s Obituary
John B. Doane, son of Harold and Cora Lee Hodges Doane, was born July 27, 1935 in Denison, Texas and departed this life on September 5, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-three years, one month and eighteen days.
On May 4, 1959, he was united in marriage to Carolyne Marie Stanberry and to this union two children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lorene and Emma and a brother, Harold.
John is survived by his wife, Carolyne of the home; son, Jon Doane and wife, Sherri, of Ava; daughter, Lynn Young and husband, Michael, of Springfield; three grandchildren, Justin of Ava, Jana and husband, Dakota, and Ashley and husband, Nathan, all of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Shelby, Aubrey, and Grayson; brother, Jackie Doane of Warren, Texas.
John served our country in the United States Air Force and Army for 29 years, retiring from the Army as Lieutenant Colonel. He moved to Mansfield in 1988 and had moved to Springfield a couple of years ago to be closer to their health care providers.
Memorial services will be October 6, 2018 in Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield, with the time to be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate memorial contributions be made to the Shriner’s Hospital and may be made through Holman-Howe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 199 Mansfield, MO 65704. (A complete obituary will be in the paper in a few weeks.)
Inurnment Service will be at 12:00 p.m. Tues. October 9th in the
Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
