John R Jolley (Lebanon)'s Obituary
John Ray Jolley, son of John H. and Valeer M. Mayhugh Jolley, was born October 21, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He departed this life Thursday, June 19, 2014, in Barnes Jewish Hospital, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of sixty-five years, seven months, and twenty-nine days.
On October 21, 1972, he was united in marriage to Sheila Lynne Mayab, and to this union one son, Tim Jolley, was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Lawrence Mayab; and a sister-in-law, Linda Jolley.
John is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Sheila, of the home; a son, Tim Jolley, of Troy, Illinois; his mother-in-law, Beulah Mayab, of Troy, Illinois; three brothers, Jeran Jolley, and his wife, Patty, of Cedar City, Utah, Wayne Jolley, and his wife, Lani, of Highland, California, and Vance Jolley, of Fruita, Colorado; four sisters, Hollie Sanford, and her husband, John, of Blanding, Utah, Marvel Riri, and her husband, Kent, Rebecca Koskinck, and her husband, Carl, all of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kaye Jolley, of Blanding, Utah; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and then moved with his family to Highland, California when he was a young boy. He then graduated from San Gergonia High School in Highland, California, in the Class of 1967. John joined the United States Air Force in July of 1968, and proudly served his country for twenty-two years. During his tours of duty, he was stationed in Germany and Turkey, as well as various locations in the United States. After retiring, John and Sheila made their home in Troy, Illinois. Later, John was employed at Ace Hardware for seventeen years.
John had received his pilot’s license and enjoyed making many flights with his friend, Ray Rakers. John and Sheila loved to go sightseeing on his Honda motorcycle. John’s old 1976 Chevy pickup was the apple of his eye, and he loved to play Dominos and cards with his buddy, Rick.
John was a loving husband, father, son-in-law, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
