Larry Richard Roberts (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Larry Richard Roberts, son of Robert M. and Ethel R. Haywood Roberts, was born July 21, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan. He departed this life Thursday, December 19, 2019, in the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, four months, and twenty-eight days.
On March 16, 1968, he was united in marriage to Rhonda Sue Carroll, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Rhonda, on September 20, 2002.
Larry is survived by a daughter, Carrie Riddle, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Ronny Roberts, and his wife Dianna, of Lebanon, Missouri, Robbie Roberts, of Nixa, Missouri, and Ricky Roberts, of Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter Roberts, of Detroit, Michigan; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Paula Deselms; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Michigan where he graduated from high school. He entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Army for two years during the Vietnam War. Shortly after being honorably discharged from the military, Larry returned to Michigan where soon he and Rhonda were married. Larry worked in a copper mine in Michigan for a time and then managed a cranberry farm. He was a police officer for a short time and then worked and retired as a mail carrier. After moving to Lebanon, Missouri, he worked as a truck driver for Lowe Boats for several years and later worked for other companies until retiring. Larry made his home in Camdenton for the last few years.
He liked horses and enjoyed horseback riding often. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and liked spending time at Marty’s Bar in Camdenton. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Larry was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
A memorial has been established for the Wounded Warriors Foundation and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Monday, Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 22 from 3 - 5 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Veterans Circle in Mount Rose Memorial Park.
