Lawrence Kloud (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Lawrence “Larry” James Kloud, son of William A. and Elmyra Davisson Kloud, was born March 15, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life on Friday, October 27, 2017, at his home in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, seven months, and twelve days.
In 1972, he was married to Harriet Held, who preceded him in death on June 28, 2003. On July 7, 2007, he united in marriage to Sharon K. (Sturm) Barnett, and recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon of the home; a stepson, David Barnett, of California, Missouri; two brothers, William Kloud (Carol Ann) of Chicago, Illinois, and David Kloud (Carol Jean) of St. Louis, Missouri; a sister Mimi Duncan (Tom) of St. Louis, Missouri; additional in-laws, beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and great-nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Larry was born and raised in the St. Louis area, graduated from Bishop Dubourg High School, and the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a degree in Agricultural Economics. Larry was a member of the Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity as well as a member of “Marching Mizzou.” Larry was a 3rd Degree member of Council #7194 of the Knights of Columbus, in St. Martins, Missouri.
Larry served his country during the Vietnam War as a United States Marine from 1969-1971.
Larry worked as a Caseworker, Supervisor, and Trainer while in St. Louis. In 1980, he moved to Jefferson City and became the Director of Training and Development for several agencies within the Department of Social Services. Larry also assisted with registration for numerous Child Support Enforcement Conferences throughout the U.S. through Rainbow Association and Meetings Management.
In 1997, Larry moved to Lakewood, Colorado, so Harriet could be close to her family. While in Colorado, Larry began working as a hotel shuttle driver and parking manager. In 2016, Larry moved back to Missouri and chose Lebanon, Missouri, for his home. At the time of his death, Larry was serving as the volunteer shuttle driver/coordinator for St. Francis DeSales Church.
While living in St. Louis, Larry liked playing drums with the band, “The New Tories.” Larry enjoyed attending all types of racing events, especially Winged Sprints, NASCAR, Indy, and Formula 1. Most of all, Larry loved traveling, especially in his RV. In 2014, Larry completed his goal of traveling to all 50 states.
Today we CELEBRATE the life of Larry Kloud! Larry gave us wonderful memories. May they remind us to smile, laugh, and enjoy life! May the love that Larry shared with his family and friends, provide us comfort. Eternal rest grant unto Larry, O Lord!
