I met Lena when I was in college dating her son. She was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. She always had a smile on her face & made you feel special just being in her presence. Lena never had a bad thing to say about anyone & was always willing to help others. She also made me grin so many times; once she told me about a doctor she’d had while pregnant who always switched the first 2 letters around in her name & called her Elna instead of Lena ... & no matter how many times she corrected him, he continued to call her Elna. That story made me grin big & I've never forgotten it. :-) Lena was a precious soul! I know I’ll see her again someday on the other side. Until then, may she Rest In Peace ... & may special memories of her bring much comfort to her family in the months & years ahead.

Lena was my first and second grade teacher at Dry and Dusty School. She and Don were such beloved influences in my life. They inspired a lifelong love for learning along with many other wonderful lessons in kindness, doing things right the first time and not settling for less than my best effort. They inspired us to achieve and make them proud. They were really more like second parents, than teachers.

I was thrilled when my son began the Latch Key and Mighty Ducks program at FUMC and I found that my dear former teachers were in charge of those programs. I knew he was in the best possible hands. After her time at FUMC, she came to be my coworker at LEC, in the office across from mine. We shared so many good laughs and memories, though I struggled to call her Lena at work--she was always Mrs. Sexton in my mind!

I'll miss that "Hi honey!" and that beautiful, gentle spirit she showered upon everyone who knew her. That smile just made you feel like the most treasured person when you encountered it. She was simply, "the best" and I loved her! Until we meet again, sweet teacher/friend....I'll remain one of your biggest fans.

Mr. And Mrs. Section were our teachers at Dry and Dusty and such an important part of my life. Absolutely my favorite teachers. Many fond memories of both of them. So sorry you hear of Mrs. Sexton's passing. Praying for comfort for the family.

Lena was very sweet! she loved her chocolate malt on any random day and the chocolates we will bring her in special occasions 💕 she love her family and we will miss her until we get to see her again in heaven ❤️

One of the many things I loved about Lena was once you were invited into her home, she treated you like family. Warmed up Dr. Pepper on cold nights and doughnuts from the Apco station. It didn't get any better than that in 1985.

I'm going to miss her a lot.

Mr. and Mrs. Sexton were a big part of my life. I spent a lot of time at their house with Denise and babysitting Tim and Angie. I loved that time of my life at Dry and Dusty, and will always remember them fondly.
