Lena Sexton (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Lena Faye Sexton, daughter of Harold and Helen Switzer Hodges, was born March 13, 1943, in Ava, Missouri. She departed this life on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, six months, and twenty-three days.
On April 2, 1965, she was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Sexton, and to this union three daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Don, on September 24, 2014; as well a son, Dennis.
Lena is survived by a son, Tim Sexton, and his wife, Gracie, of Marshfield, Missouri; three daughters, Denise McCullough, and her husband, Bill, of Swansboro, North Carolina, Angie Rush, and her husband, Johnny, of Springfield, Missouri, and Debbie Cain, and her husband, Rodney, of Marshfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Tim, Lenae, Troy, and Trent; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised on a farm in the Ava community, and graduated from Ava High School. She then earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the School of the Ozarks. After she and Don were married, they made their home on their farm in the Phillipsburg community for many years. Lena was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family and also taught school at Dry and Dusty School, and Gasconade C-4 for several years. She then worked for Laclede Electric Cooperative, retiring in 2007.
She enjoyed being outdoors, and loved animals, and liked playing card games. She had a fondness for chocolate, even when it was not a part of her diet. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Lena was a loving mother, grandmother, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lonesome Hill Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church of Lebanon.
