Louis C. Domingue (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Louis Claude Domingue, son of Louis A. and Mary Alice Mitchell Domingue, was born October 27, 1936, in Oxford, Massachusetts. He departed this life Tuesday, December 12, 2017, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, one month, and fifteen days.
On August 15, 1955, he was united in marriage to Martha May Vaughn, and to this union one son was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, David Best; and three brothers, Robert Mitchell, Jerry Domingue, and Bill Domingue.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Martha, of the home; a son, Claude Steven Domingue, and his wife, Jean, of Richland, Missouri; four grandchildren, Britny Dukish, and her husband, Brian, Steven, Meagan, and Jon-Michael Domingue; three sisters, Charlotte Gubber, of the State of Connecticut, Louise Pierce, and her husband, Jim, and Dorothy Steiger, all of the State of Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Oxford, Massachusetts, where he graduated from high school. He then entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Army in a distinguished career that spanned twenty-four years. He was stationed in Germany, Vietnam, and Korea, as well as stateside at Fort Belvoir, Fort Benning, Fort Lewis, and Fort Leonard Wood. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor among numerous other medals and certificates. After retiring on August 31, 1978, the family moved to Lebanon, Missouri and made their home. Lou began working as a long haul truck driver which he did for several years.
He was widely known as a race enthusiast and attended car races weekly during the season. He had been a good bowler during his younger years and liked having breakfast with his friends at B and D Truck Port. His family was central in his life and he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s activities. He was a very patriotic man who loved his country dearly.
Louis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-one years.
