Mary "Denise" Scott (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Mary Denise Smith Scott, daughter of John and Gladys Rogers Smith, was born December 19, 1961, in Columbia, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, October 24, 2022, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty years, ten months, and five days.
On June 2, 2005, she was united in marriage to Herbert Scott, and they shared the last seventeen years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, David Smith.
Denise is survived by her loving husband, Herbert, of the home, in Marshfield, Missouri; a daughter, Angell Young, of Strafford, Missouri; two sons, Adam Young, and his wife, Jenny, and Barry Young, and his wife, Amber, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a step-daughter, Jessica Scott, of Des Moines, Iowa; a step-son, Jeff Scott, of Strafford, Missouri; two brothers, John Smith, Jr. and Dan Smith; a sister, Betty Minor; several nieces and nephews; her dog, “Rocky”; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area and graduated from Lebanon High School. She was a devoted homemaker to her family through the years, and also worked at Wehner’s Bakery for over twenty years. She then made her home in the Marshfield area for the last twenty years.
Denise was a born again Christian, had been baptized and followed the Baptist faith. She loved helping her family and friends.
She had a green thumb and loved to grow flowers and plants. She loved her dogs and horses and was obsessed with her grandchildren. She loved to laugh and have a good time, and was always friendly and fun loving. She also was a serious Trump fan.
Denise was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories she created for them during her sixty years.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday evening, Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon.
A memorial has been established to Shriner's Hospital and donations may be made through the funeral home.
