Olive Joan Pline (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Olive Joan Pline, daughter of Joseph H. and Nellie Stokes Purdy, was born November 20, 1927, near Niangua, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, October 17, 2012, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, ten months, and twenty-seven days.
On October 17, 1948, she was united in marriage to Stanley J. Pline, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Stanley, on May 13, 1987.
Joan is survived by a son, D. J. Pline, and his wife, Teresa, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Cherry Carrel, and her husband, John, of Jefferson City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jonah, Alex, Steven, Emily, and Joseph; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Lillard, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Niangua, Missouri community. She then moved with her family to the Millcreek area, where she graduated from Stoutland High School. After she and Stanley were married, they made their home in California and Arizona before returning to the family farm, near Lebanon, where she lived for the last fifty years. Throughout the years, Joan was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and also worked at the Missouri Extension Center for several years, and at May’s Ceramic Shop.
Joan was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, near Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, doing craft projects, and raising chickens. She also enjoyed country music, and particularly Dolly Parton. She cared for her mother, who lived over one hundred years, during her senior years, and loved her family dearly.
Joan was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout her lifetime.
