We've known Rachel & Billy two years this Christmas. We were new to Macedonia Baptist's PEP's Senior Adult group. In Dec 2021, the PEP group were going to the Live Nativity at Springfield's Fairgrounds , then afterwards riding around to enjoy Christmas Lights in the church vans.
My husband, Carl, was driving one van and our new pastor the other van. Rachel and Billy got on our van. What a delight and fun twosome they were!
Billy was joking around and Rachel was firing back fun sayings to him!
Then they came to our Pancake Fundraiser at our church the next Spring.
In May 2022, Rachel became ill and we felt like we were to pamper and love them as they faced the trials of cancer. Foods and little gifts were given from many and prayers lifted up for dear Rachel.
She would tell me of her grandkids and she had a new one in this short time of knowing them. Our Pastor, Craig Liscom, was happy to visit with them in the hospital and comfort Rachel. She was a witness to her Jesus through it all. She told me stories about going to church and lots of local places with her Dad. Missing her, Carl and Lola Dyson Springfield, MO
The first time I met Rachel was at ANPAC. We became instant friends, kindred spirits. We always laughed because we both spoke the same kind of weird language and we both knew exactly what each other meant. We had so many good talks and laughs. Without her presence ANPAC was not the same. I will always remember your laughter, stories, and our quirky words. I will see you in heaven when it's my turn. Miss you my friend.
Rachel and I worked together for many years at American National. She was a great person and I will always remember her laughter. She was very proud of her family and talked about them often. I was sad to hear of her passing, my thoughts are with her family.
Rachel was my classmate and friend. I remember a quiet, shy country girl who came to LHS the same year I did. She was so cute. We walked together many times when I was in the throes of grief. Our last visit we sat on her patio in wonderful sunshine for our visit. My heart aches for what she endured and fought. Fly high my friend, no more pain! I will miss you!!
Rachel was one of the first people I met when I started at ANPAC over 10 years ago. She welcomed me with open arms. I will never forget her sassy personality and contagious laugh! She was always willing to help out and give this girl a good laugh to brighten my day!
Rachel was like a sister to me. We were Best friends and have known each other for at least 45 years. Rachel was the sweetest and most humble person I know. You couldn’t find a more friendly or genuine person. She never met a stranger. She loved everyone! She was a loving and caring Christian. She truly loved Jesus and was very open and shared Him with all who crossed her path. She was not ashamed of the truth. She believed in in America the land of the free and home of the brave. All her beliefs were based on the Word of God. She had strong family ties and loved all her family especially her boys, ( Tyler and Korey) and her grandchildren, (Olivia, Bodie, Brynlee,) Mother, Father, and siblings. Rachel was someone to be admired and respected. She was a precious witness of strength. Never selfish and always thinking of others. Rachel touched so many people with her strength and courage during her illness. She never gave up! She suffered without complaining! She accepted The Lord’s plan for her life and now she is with Jesus celebrating Thanksgiving in His House. I love you Rachel my precious friend! I will see you later Dear Friend!
