Rick loved his family immensely, and shared the story of his daughter having a favorite toy horse. Christmas rolled around and there were few funds for gift-giving. When his daughter heard this, she wrapped up her toy horse and gave it to her sibling. This had touched him deeply.
Some of his favorite days, he said, were on the river with his son. In particular, he enjoyed the memory of a speed-canoe trip they made together.
He treasured every moment he spent with Scout as an infant and toddler, and was appreciative of the time they were able to share as she grew into a young lady.
Everyone who knew Richard knew that he loved the Lord, his family and the gifts offered by nature. He was a phenomenal athlete and an artistic and creative soul who will be greatly missed by those lucky enough to have called him friend.
May you all find peace.
