Richard Sterling DuMond (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Richard Sterling DuMond, son of Rufus and Evelyn Cooper DuMond, was born March 5, 1945, in Albany, New York. He departed this life Thursday, June 4, 2020, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, two months, and thirty days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Janice Morris.
Richard is survived by a son, Gabriel DuMond, of Lebanon, Missouri; three daughters, Joy Wilson, of Olathe, Kansas, Faith Fritsch, of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Rachel Scott DuMond, of Clarkston, Georgia; seven grandchildren; his former wife and trusted friend, Diana DuMond, of Springfield, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Albany, New York, and graduated from high school there. He then served his country faithfully for three years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on August 27, 1969. He moved to Montana where he attended college and began working in law enforcement. He served with the Montana Highway Patrol for several years. Later, he was the Chief of Police in Plainwood, Montana for a number of years. After retiring, he moved to Georgia where he lived until moving to Lebanon, Missouri in 2011.
Richard had attended Tabernacle Baptist Church and Green Hills Freewill Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In his spare time he enjoyed wood carving. He was an avid outdoorsman and greatly liked to hunt. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Richard was a loving father, grandfather, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Services will be held privately at a later date.
