My husband Tom Davis, his brother Timmy and Richard were friends in Viola, AR. We just found out about Richard's death. We were sorry to hear about it.
Tommy used to go to antique auctions with Richard. Richard would never stop to get anything to eat when he was driving. When Tommy was driving, he'd stop and get a sandwich and eat it driving while Richard would get a whole plate of food and laugh at Tommy while he would eat. At the auctions they would sit around and try to beat each other out of a dollar. Tommy has a skeleton key they sold each other several times. They would sell it for 65 or 75 cents and buy it back for $1 or so. They kept a book on who owed who what. Richard still owes him 75 cents.
Tommy had a skill saw that was howling. He said Richard was too cheap to buy a new one. Tommy spent one night oiling it and cleaning it. He sold it to Richard for $25. It worked for about 30 minutes before it started howling again. They were always trying to get one over on the other one. The three of them would always play jokes on their coworkers
When they worked in Branson they had an imaginary dog Richard named Blackie. Richard had people worried that Blackie would eat them up.
Even though they lost touch after Richard moved to Mansfield, the guys always thought of him as one of their best friends.##imported-begin##Brenda Davis##imported-end##
