As in-laws we all decided that we would do an annual 1/2 day canoe trip down the Peace River. Al, Sandy, Bill ,myself and our kids would do this adventure together. We had our rented canoes and launched at some God awful hour like 8:00 a.m. Keep in mind some could paddle a canoe with great ease and some of us (me) spent a lot of time in the mangroves. After about 2 hours we would find the perfect bank to stop and dig for sharks teeth. Keep in mind we only had the most top of the line tools - kitchen colander, plastic shovels, metal coffee can with holes so sand would seep through. We would sit in the muck and hope for a BIG tooth. After awhile we all would decide we were hungry so we dug out our sandwiches we brought and another beer. Did I mention we drank beer while canoeing? The best of our lunch was always Sandy's brownies. After some more digging we would head down to the river to our final stop. We had many laughs and made wonderful memories.
We all shared many memories over the years. Sandy and I are fortunate we watched Amber and Michael get married and have children.
I admire Sandy for her courage and strength she used as she fought this 2 year battle. Her family and friends loved her and she will be missed.
I hope she is at peace and reunited with Al. Sandy be looking for another river so when I get there we can continue our adventure.. And don't forget to save me a beer and a delicious brownie!!!
You are missed.❤️
