Ted Oetting's Obituary
Theodore “Ted” Carl Oetting passed away October 15, 2010 at home on the farm where he was born on February 24, 1913. He was the youngest child of Frederick and Friedericka Ingwersen Oetting.
He was married to Elsie Unterkircher and after her death he later married Mary Dixon Ward.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, two wives and his brothers and sisters, Louise, Fredrich, Carl, Francis, Martin, Ernest, Dora and Herman.
He is survived by his step-son, Jerry Ward and his wife, Marty of Chamberlin, Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Bernita Lentz and Wilma Taylor both of Hutchinson, Kansas, Lucinda von Soosten of Girard, Kansas, Esther Dengler of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Rosalind Fellwock of Huntsville, Alabama, Dorothy Moffat of Whidley Island, Washington, Bonnalie Campbell of Houston, Texas, Martin Christy Oetting of Carthage, Missouri, Ronald Oetting of Griffin, Georgia, Robert Oetting of Antioch, California, Kenneth Oetting of Lakewood, Colorado and Carol Neptune of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and their families.
Ted graduated from the 8th grade at the Oetting School and was a Mansfield High School graduate in the Class of 1931. He served in the Army Air Force as an airplane and engine mechanic from 1942 to 1946.
After serving his country he returned to the family homestead where he farmed and after his retirement he was a very active member in the Mansfield Senior Citizens.
Ted was baptized at an early age in the Lutheran faith and was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Diggins, Missouri.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge Mrs. Carolyn Comfort, Ted’s caregiver the last year of his life.
Funeral services for Ted Oetting will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield, Missouri.
Burial will follow in Oetting Cemetery, north of Mansfield.
No formal visitation is planned.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield.
