Virginia West (Hartville)'s Obituary
Virginia Lee West, daughter of William Dugger and Bell (Hurt) Dugger, was born near Hartville, Missouri on August 17, 1931. She called into the Lord’s care Thursday evening, November 14, 2019 in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 88 years, 2 months, and 28 days.
Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband, Byron Gene West; two sons, Howard Lynn and Larry Gene Whetstine; her brother, Clifford Dugger; and two sisters, Cleo Moore and Pauline Spain.
Virginia is survived by her son, Lonnie Whetstine and his wife Amy, of Seattle, Washington; a daughter, Gina Parks and her husband Rod, of Salem, Oregon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob and Ronnie Dugger; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and caring friends.
Virginia was born and raised in the Hartville area and attended the Carter, Owens, and Broyles school houses before attending Hartville High School. Virginia worked a number of jobs but she mostly enjoyed owning a restaurant with her sister in Branson and working for the Green Thumb Program as a clerk, to help all in need.
Virginia was saved and baptized at an early age. She was active in the Rock Chapel Church and while she lived in Salem, Oregon with her sister, she attended Immanuel Baptist Church.
Virginia enjoyed sewing and quilting, as well as cooking for her entire family. Virginia loved to watch the cardinal birds while she was gardening her tomatoes. She also enjoyed playing bingo with her friends every chance she had. But, most importantly, Virginia loved her family and loved telling them stories that they all could enjoy. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend. We celebrate her wonderful life and will always cherish the many happy memories she created.
Memorial donations can be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery in Norwood, Missouri or to the Good Shepherd Hospice.
