On September 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to Tommy Dean Harrill, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommy, on March 15, 2011; and an infant sister, Enola Breakfield.
Wanda is survived by a son, Steven Harrill, and Debbie, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two daughters, Phyllis Harrill, of Goodman, Missouri, and Rita Ryan, and her husband, David, Jr., of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Philip Jarrell, Kristina Ryan-McCoy, and her husband, Buddy, Robert Jarrell, and his wife, Jessica, and Christopher Ryan, and his wife, Chelsei; eight great-grandchildren, Sabrie, Uriah, Michelle, Philip, Jr., Evah, Roxanne, Jase, and Dean; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Oakland community, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1950. She later attended Northeast Missouri State University and earned her Associates Degree. After she and Tommy were married, they made their home in Lebanon, and then in various places while Tommy served in the United States Air Force. When Tommy retired from the military, the family moved to Kirksville, Missouri, where Wanda attended college and also worked as a district manager for the Avon Company in the Northeast Missouri area. In 1978, the family moved back to Lebanon and made their home. Wanda was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and also worked for the State Farm Insurance Company in Larry Smith’s office for several years. She later owned and operated Wanda’s Flower Box and worked in the cafeteria at Lebanon High School. Wanda was a wonderful caregiver to Tommy following his accident, and lovingly tended to his needs for the last ten years of his life.
Wanda made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime active member of Second Baptist Church in Lebanon.
She was a past president of Levi’s and Laces Square Dancing Club and greatly enjoyed square dancing. She also belonged to the Stroke Support Group in Springfield, Missouri. She and Tommy liked traveling and made many trips across the country in their RV. She enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers and then making creative floral arrangements. Her family was extremely important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wanda was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
Memorial donations to Second Baptist Church or Antioch Cemetery, may be left at the funeral home.
