Wanda L. Young (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Wanda L. Young, daughter of Leslie and Laura Hensley Noble, was born April 4, 1935, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, April 30, 2020, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, and twenty-six days.
On July 16, 1953, she was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” D. Young, and to this union one daughter was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene, on October 13, 2016; and a number of brothers and sisters.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Vicky Loggins, and her husband, Alan, of Camdenton, Missouri; two granddaughters, Ashlee Ehman, and her husband, Frank, of Dallas, Texas, and Chelsea Ann Pettitt, of Springfield, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Emmerson Ehman, Campbell Ehman, and Cade Ehman; three step-grandchildren, Ashley Lawrence, and her husband, Trey, of Collierville, Tennessee, Blair Sehrt, and her husband, James, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Elizabeth Loggins, of Florence, Alabama; three step-great-grandchildren, Jack Lawrence, Lillie Bee Lawrence, and Corinne Sehrt; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Lebanon and then moved with her family to California during the depression and World War II. She had vivid memories of the blackouts on the west coast. She then returned to Lebanon where she graduated from Lebanon High School. After she and Gene were married, they made their home on their farm, near Lebanon and lovingly raised their daughter. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and daughter, Wanda also was a civil service employee at Fort Leonard Wood for a time.
Wanda had professed her faith in Christ and was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church in Lebanon.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and a “Performer’s Personality”. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing special meals for her family and especially on the holidays. She also was a gifted poetry writer. She made her family the center of her life and particularly loved having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wanda was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Private family graveside services for Wanda Young will be Tuesday, May 5 at 2 p.m. at Mount Rose Memorial Park.
