Peace and prayers to Wayne's family!
This message is really late and not very timely at all. I had to write anyway. I worked with Wayne at Hallmark Cards December 1959-1962 in the manufacturing area on the third shift specifically. . . .11 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. I saw the notice of his passing in the list of Hallmark retirees.
I had just returned from US Army basic training (DEC 1959) having completed H.S. the previous June. Most of the guys I worked with were 25 - 30. Wayne must have been one of the older guys. I remember some of the events like it was yesterday, but it was over 60 years ago!
Being one of the youngest (19) They teased me about being out so late. . . Shouldn't I bring a note from my mother? As I recall Hallmark provided coffee at a break at 1:30 a.m. and maybe 5 a.m. We had a lunch break at 3 a.m. I remember one time at the 1:30 break Wayne ate his all he brought for lunch. Needless to say at 3 a.m. he was beside himself!
At time we could discuss our faith and Wayne was right there with his. What a blessing and friend he was at that time.
Wayne made a difference in my life.
