Wilmer Alonzo Skinner, 88, of Lebanon, MO, died peacefully, with loved ones at his bedside, April 12, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was born July 17, 1928, in Chicago, IL, the son of William Alonzo and Henrietta H Read Obituary
Wilmer always had a big contagious smile on his face whenever you was around Wilmer you knew he was going to have that smile. I remember taking Wilmer to the cackle hatchery he was so excited to see the little baby chicks and the little baby ducks he went right in there to the Box and very gently picked up a little chicken and put it to his face and held onto that little chicken and then he put it back down and went and picked him up a little duck but he was the most gentle loving and caring man that is the Wilmer Skinner that I know and will always remember.
Wilmer made everyone he known so happy to be around him almost every time I seen him he would say you picking on me? Or point he's finger and call us trouble I have so many memories with him he was a great person he will be greatly missed
Wilmer was someone who was made special. Someone once said about another mentally handicapped man, "It's a shame God had to make him like that and leave things out of him that most people have." My reply was God left the hatred, meanness, the talking bad about people, the lying and all the other bad habits people have out of him. God gave him laughter, happiness, kindness and caring instead. This was Wilmer. He cared about everyone no matter who they were. He always had a smile for you and always wanted to talk to you, even though sometimes it was about nothing. I will miss him saying, "Me talk you?" You have put on your angel wings and put a bright spot in heaven. Rest in Peace my friend.
I am so sorry for your loss. Wilmer was an amazing person who put a smile on everyone's face he meet. I can remember sitting down with him after he got a new set of Legos and working on them together. He is going to be greatly missed by us all and will always have a special place in my heart. I will miss Wilmer dearly. He's held a special place in my heart from the moment I met him and he always will. He was such a kind and loving soul who will never be forgotten. Rest peacefully with the angels, our dear Wilmer. I'm sure you'll make just as much of an impact in heaven as you did here on this earth.
Im going to miss that big smile that Wilmer always had on his face. I remember taking Wilmer to the Cackle Hatchery and he went over to the baby chick's and picked them up and loved on them and was very careful, gentle and loving and he had that big mesmerizing smile on his face. That is the kind of man Wilmer was and he will be greatly missed.
I spent my time with Wilmer almost every morning for the past 7 yrs taking care of him..he will be sooo missed and our days are definitely not the same without him..we would spend our mornings joking, sneaking up on each other and so on,there was never a dull moment with Wilmer..wilmer was not only a part of my life but he was also a part of my kids life's and he loves them just as much as they loved him.he will be greatly missed and never forgotten!
