Wilmer A. Skinner (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Wilmer Alonzo Skinner, 88, of Lebanon, MO, died peacefully, with loved ones at his bedside, April 12, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. He was born July 17, 1928, in Chicago, IL, the son of William Alonzo and Henrietta Hazel (Maus) Skinner.
He was a resident of Lebanon for 32 years and a member of Mt. Olivet Assembly of God Church. He worked at the Laclede Industries Sheltered Workshop for over 20 years. He was a Special Olympics athlete and competed in bowling, softball throw and track. He won the Grand Prize at the Lebanon County Fair for his art work. He was an enthusiastic volunteer and helped at the Humane Society, St. John’s Hospital, Community Baptist Church, Lebanon-Laclede County Library and Journey Christian Church. He enjoyed every minute spent at LDTC/LINK with the loving staff and friends. He loved John Wayne, Legos, baseball cards and cars and trucks.
In addition to his loving parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Evalyn Edith Wonderly, and her husband Dr. Robert Oliver, his brother, W. Lee Skinner, and his wife, Jan Kohen, his sister, Mildred Henrietta, a half sister, Londeina Beatrice Skinner-Pollard, and his foster parents, Pat and Doc Harrill.
Wilmer is survived by his nieces, Joyce Skinner-Pollard Burkhead and her husband Dr. Carl, of Lawrence, KS, Amaera Donna Felder and her husband Dr. George, of Belle Vernon, PA, Bobbie Wonderly McLaughlin and her husband Jim, of Memphis, TN, Suzanne Wonderly Gibson and her husband Ralph, of Memphis, TN, and Terri Lee Skinner of Springfield, MO. He will be fondly remembered by his friends Chris Aguilar, Konnie Franklin and June Draayer along with Glenn, Leopold, Harry and Colleen.
