Cecil Seaton
I came to Mansfield in the late 50s from California as a junior when the high school was located at the top of the hill. Got my hair cuts from Wright’ dad at a shop across from the bank, all the old guys would meet there and talk for hours. Wright was one of the first kids that befriended me and introduced me to his friends, most of them were from the basketball team, Larry Anderson, Larry Hunsecker, Veet, etc. and to Joice Clark, who knew everybody and made me feel right at home. But Wright was the friend that was there for me during those tuff first years at a new school. We used to back his car, a 1953 Chevy, I think, into the front of the square and watch all the kids go by making the trip from th ‘Y’ at the top of the hill to the Tarbutton garage, now the auto parts store, back and forth honking and waving at each other. One night after I bought my 1935 ford from Larry Dennis, I remember that I drove almost 80 miles back and forth talking and dreaming about the future, and girls. A deferent time, and wonderful time. Wright was kind enough to help me get on started and befriended me during those times and for next 60 years. He was a good man and a honorable friend and He will be missed. My name is Cecil Seaton, class of 1960.
