Wright Bogart (Mansfield) 's Obituary
Wright Bogart, known affectionately to many as “Bogey,” son of Hosea V. and R. Berniece (Rippee) Bogart, was born in Mansfield, MO on May 19, 1942 and departed this life on December 7, 2018, after suffering a major stroke on December 2, ten years and 3 days after his first stroke that forced an early retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wiley, niece Kathryn (Katy), and aunt Iris.
He is survived by two daughters Melissa Bogart (Akers) of Bolivar and Rhonda Stanton (and Alan) of Bolivar; three granddaughters, Emily (Akers) Rennison (and Tyler) of Sweet Springs, MO, Allison (Stanton) Dodds (and Wyatt) of Pittsburg, KS; and Malerie Stanton of Bolivar; and a great grandson Kade Rennison of Sweet Springs, MO. Other survivors include nephew Jeff Bogart (and Lori) and their children Lindsey and Bryce, of Kansas City, MO; niece Elizabeth (Bogart) Knipp (and Jeff) and their son Colin of Lee’s Summit, MO, and cousin Nondas Bogart of Camdenton, MO.
Wright graduated from Mansfield High School in 1960, attended Southwest Baptist (College) University, and graduated with a Business Administration degree from Drury University. He was a talented athlete and played basketball and baseball in high school; basketball while he was in the Army, and softball on almost every field in southwest Missouri.
He served in the Army as a Military Policeman, and he was employed as Member Services Coordinator at Se-Ma-No Electric for 26 years. He volunteered on the Board for the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging and was elected to the Silver-Haired Legislature. He was an avid Elvis fan and enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing with his friends. He also loved taking his granddaughters to Silver Dollar City and buying them practically anything they asked for. While he loved his girls, no one made him smile quite like his great-grandson Kade.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 15, with visitation at 1:00 and the service at 2:00 pm at Holman-Howe Chapel in Mansfield with Reverend Dick Bishop officiating. Song selections are “Great is Thy Faithfulness” and “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone),” sung by Cheri Rummens, and Vicki Box will provide accompaniment. Escorts will be Jeff Bogart, Bryce Bogart, Jeff Knipp, Colin Knipp, Leon Greene, and John Letsinger.
Donations may be made to the Residents’ Special Projects Account at Citizen’s Memorial Healthcare Facility or to the Heart & Stroke Association. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery, close to his parents and brother. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield.
